Purple Broccoli

We've been harvesting this wonderful cultivar for the last three months and it is as tasty as it is beautiful. The Sicilian Purple Broccoli is one of the great successes of 2008 and will be a mandate for cold weather gardens in the future. According to the USDA Americans eat less than two pounds of broccoli per year and one plant with a strong harvest could easily yield that. Broccoli preserves well in the freezer or by pickling and here at the Yard Farmer we advocate at least 3 plants per year(or more) to keep your reserves full and of course some for the friends and neighbors.
